Workshop: Community-Academic Partnerships in Human Milk Research: Setting Priorities

In collaboration with the UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI)

Objectives:

  • Identify at least 3 priority research questions in human milk research from Community Agencies-Community Partners
  • Identify potential academic partners at UC San Diego who have capacity and expertise to address these research questions
  • Explore additional opportunities to expand use of Human Milk Research Biorepository to support clinical research fostering Community-Academic Partnerships
  • Highlight potential funding opportunities for this work

Workshop: Human Milk Banking Best Practices

Objectives:

  • Collaborate with experts in neonatology, nutrition and milk banking to discuss optimal donor milk needs in the hospital setting
  • Explore best practice standards across milk banks to improve quality, safety, nutrition and biology of donor milk
  • Brainstorm innovative technologies to improve milk bank processes
  • Plan for further collaborative work with EMBA, HMBANA and other partners
